People starts to stereotype when they see male nurses, having the mindset that nursing is a female job, which is not suitable for male. Nurse is not a health care profession, which are meant for female only, but also male. People have commented that once more male join in the profession the misconceptions will disappear.
Many have said that in the catholic world, nurses have been always male. But instead, in the Anglo-Saxon society expected nurses to be females. Although there are still some misconceptions about nurses, it does not stop people who are keen being a nurse to not to be one.
In the modern society now, misconceptions are slowly clearing as there are much more male joining the health care profession as a nurse. As the years past, there is an increasing demand of nurses due to lacking of medial professions like nurses.
My families and friends expected males to work in an office with a high pay and a high ranking. From my perspective, I think that it is a ridiculous mindset. There are also males who work as other occupations who are not indoors and earn a high pay each month. For example, there are males working in schools as a teacher or in a community club teaching housewives how to cook. Thus, my conclusion is, both males and females can be a nurse regardless of race, language and religion.
