Lukas family was worried because Lukas went missing. Elias was still trying to deny it when he heard the news. Malie, Sofie and Elias searched and called out for Lukas until dark. Aunt Gertie stayed with Barta to comfort her when they went out to search for Lukas. Meanwhile, the rest of the family members were worried and waiting for their brother at home. Malie said that Bigfeet would not even feel if they stepped on child on and throughout the week they have been tearing off bark and branches and eating around. Anna and the men came back at midnight when Martiens, took over from them. Fourteen wood cutters took part in the search on the midday and the constable came to help as well on the next morning. As days passed, people taking part in the search start to increase gradually. But till the very end, Elias and Barta still have not given up hope in search of their son.
