Vegetation in marshes may not grow back and vegetation along water sources disappeared, whatever remains became brown. Katrina decrease local oyster harvests by two-thirds. US imported oysters. Fisherman becomes unemployed and unsettled. Floodwater became contaminated and disturbed underground gas and oil tanks. Sewer and pipes contaminated the water. Human corpses and death pets increase contamination. Place dredged material for a platform for the plants to grow on. The Louisiana Coastal Area Ecosystem Restoration Plan plans to rebuild barrier islands and marsh grass.
